Due to regional restrictions introduced in April 2025, the online programming function of Launch X431 PAD VII, PAD V, and PRO 5 is currently not authorized in Spain, Portugal, and North America. To bypass this limitation, some users have successfully used a VPN connection to enable the feature.

VPN Setup Instructions
1. Connect Device to PC
Connect your X431 PAD VII, PAD V, or PRO 5 to your computer via USB cable.
2. Disable USB Switch
- Go to: Settings > USB Management
- Turn off the “USB Switch”
3. Enable File Transfer
- Pull down the screen to open the quick menu (or go to Settings -> USB Preferences)
- Select “USB file transfer turned on”
- Choose “Use USB for File Transfer”
4. Transfer VPN Configuration File
- On your PC, open “My Computer”
- Locate your connected X431 PAD V, PAD VII or PRO 5 device
- Copy your VPN config file (e.g., Singapore.ovpn) into any folder on the device
*Note the folder path – you’ll need it later
5. Install VPN App
6. Run OpenVPN Connect
- Launch the app
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the “Singapore.ovpn” file
- Select the Singapore.ovpn file to import
7. Connect to VPN
- Choose Connect after import
- Select ADD
- Set “Allow Compression (insecure)” to Full
Final Step: Activate Online Programming
Once connected to the VPN, follow the usual procedure for online programming activation.
