How to Check ECU Software Version with Launch CRP919X?

This procedure demonstrates how to read the software version of a vehicle’s control unit (ECU) using Launch CRP919X by establishing a connection with the onboard diagnostic system.

Required Steps:

1.Establish Connection:

Locate the vehicle’s OBD-II port, typically found beneath the dashboard on the driver’s side.

Connect the main cable of CRP919X scanner to this port.

Turn the vehicle’s ignition to the “ON” position, but do not start the engine.

2.Enter Diagnostic Mode:

From the scanner’s home screen, select the “Intelligent Diagnose” or “Diagnose” function.

3.Identify Vehicle:

Initiate a “Quick Access” scan or utilize the “AutoVIN” feature for automatic vehicle identification.

If automatic identification is unsuccessful, manually input the vehicle’s make, model, and year when prompted.

4.Select Target System:

After the initial system scan completes, a list of available vehicle systems will be displayed.

Choose “System Selection” and then identify and select the specific ECU you wish to interrogate (e.g., Engine Control Module/ECM, Transmission Control Module/TCM).

5.View Version Info:

Within the selected ECU’s menu, navigate to “Version Information,” or “ECU Information.

The subsequent screen will present the detailed technical specifications for that control unit, including its software version number(s).
