LAUNCH X431 diagnostic tool’s main menu includes two primary options: “Intelligent Diagnose” and “Local Diagnosis.” Using LAUNCH X431 PAD V ELITE as a reference, this article breaks down the key distinctions between the two modes.
Intelligent Diagnose
Intelligent Diagnose performs an automatic scan to identify and match relevant systems—such as the Engine System, SCR System, and ABS System.
If a particular system does not appear in the scan results, it may indicate that the vehicle is not equipped with it. However, if the system is present but not detected, users are advised to submit a feedback log for further analysis.
This mode offers faster access to internal system functions.
Example – 2023 Foton Ollin:
Whether you enter the engine system via Intelligent Diagnose or Local Diagnosis, the available internal functions remain the same.
Local Diagnosis
Local Diagnosis follows a more traditional process, requiring users to navigate through multiple steps manually. Although it involves more actions, it provides access to a wider range of systems and more comprehensive functionality.
Example – 2023 Foton Ollin:
When using Local Diagnosis, the navigation path is as follows:
FOTON → Diagnostic Program → Select Vehicle Type → Conventional Energy → Light Truck Series → OLLIN → Auto Scan.
Additionally, most vehicle models support Topology Detection in this mode, enabling more thorough and convenient issue identification.
