After replacing steering module on a VW Scirocco, it appears a DTC “00778, steering angle sensor no signal/communication”. The trouble code can’t be cleared and the CAN communication is not working well. Start to use Launch X431 scan tool to fix the problem.
There are many Launch X431 scanners supporting Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) reset. You can use X431 PAD VII/PAD V, X431 Pro5, X431 V/V+, X431 IMMO Plus/Elite, X431 Pro Elite, X431 CRP919E BT/CRP919X BT, X431 PRO3S+, etc.
Solution:
Step 1: Check Sensor Status
Do a quick diagnosis, and read the ECU memory
Select Read data stream>> Read by list
Check 007-1, steering angle-sensor (G85), 007-2, Steering angle-speed, 007-3, Calibration-status (G85), and 007-4, Initialization-status (G85)
We can see the sensor is working fine
Step 2: Change Adaptation
Select Adaptation>> Read by list>> Steering Angle Sensor
Input the matched value i.e.0
The input value and test value are the same
Save the data, change adaptation successfully
Step 3: Read DTC
Read DTC again, there is no DTC now. The 00778 trouble code has been cleared successfully.
Step 4: Check CAN Signal
Detect the system again, all system back to normal.
VW Scirocco SAS Code 00778 no signal problem has been solved with Launch X431 tablet successfully.
