This guide walks you through performing a transmission control module (TCM) clutch adaptation on a 2022 Ford Fiesta using Launch X431 diagnostic scanner.
What It Does:
Enables the TCM to relearn and adjust to new parameters after clutch or transmission components have been replaced.
Test Vehicle:
2022 / Ford / Fiesta
Supported Tools:
Compatible with all Launch X431 series diagnostic tools
(X431 PAD VII/PAD V, etc)
Example:
Launch X431 PAD9 LINK
Simple guide:
Navigate to Local Diagnose-> Ford-> Ford diagnostic software version (e.g.V50.52)-> Automatically Search
Identify the car model automatically

Set ignition switch to ON (Position II)
Check if the vehicle info is correct
Select “High-speed Scan” at the right bottom to scan the entire vehicle systems

Click “TCM” to access the system

Select Special Functions-> TCM (Transmission Control Module) Clutch System Learn
Read the function introduction

Enter the main menu and choose the program related to the replaced component.
If you choose “Dual Clutch Pack”, follow the guide below to operate.

- Confirm the ignition status: ignition on, engine off
- Adaptive learning of the transmission control module requires shifting to neutral, depressing the parking brake, and depressing the foot brake; only when all these conditions are met can proceed to the next step.
- Clutch system learning: Perform clutch friction coefficient calibration.
- Ignition status: Ignition off
- Ignition status: ignition on, engine off
- Check the transmission oil temperature.
Control the transmission oil temperature between 40 and 95 degrees Celsius.
- Adaptive learning of the transmission control module requires shifting to neutral, depressing the parking brake, and depressing the foot brake; only when all these conditions are met can proceed to the next step.
- Clutch system learning: Perform clutch contact point learning and wait for 2 minutes.
- Ignition status: Ignition off
- The program is complete. Exit

If [Actuator Or Pump E-Motor/Cooling Pump/Cooler Cover/ Pressure Sensor/Temperature Sensor],[Clutch Pump], [Clutch Cover/Transmission], or [Transmission Control Unit] is selected in the main menu, the steps are the same.
Take [Actuator Or Pump E-Motor/Cooling Pump/Cooler Cover/ Pressure Sensor/Temperature Sensor] option as an example.

- Ignition status: Ignition on, engine off
- Transmission oil temperature verification:
- The oil temperature must be maintained between 20 and 40 degrees Celsius.
Control the transmission oil temperature between 40 and 100 degrees Celsius.
- Adaptive learning of the transmission control module requires shifting to neutral, depressing the parking brake, and depressing the foot brake; only when all these conditions are met can proceed to the next step.
- Clutch system learning: Perform clutch contact point learning and wait for 2 minutes.
- Ignition status: Ignition off
Procedure is complete.
